Resident Life Coach

Job Summary

Daymark Living is a groundbreaking campus where adults with intellectual, cognitive or development disabilities can live, learn, and thrive.  The campus sits on 40 acres near historic downtown Waxahachie and includes 28 cottages and community buildings for dining, fitness and education. The Resident Life Coach (weekend) will predominantly work 6a-2p or 2p-10p. The coach is responsible for assisting in the development and oversight of resident services, including planning and coordinating opportunities for residents that promote a level of health, well-being, engagement and growth.

Job Responsibilities

The Resident Life Coach works directly with adult residents with intellectual, cognitive or developmental disabilities. The following duties represent typical duties:
  • Assists in planning, scheduling and conducting activities and programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, vocational, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
  • Attends all community planned functions and coordinates event from beginning to end including setup, running, and breaking down for the event.
  • Helps plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
  • Coordinates holiday decorations for the community.
  • Prepares and organizes a calendar of events.  Submits the calendar to the Community Life Director for final approval. Posts and distributes the calendar.
  • Distributes community newsletter. Meets with new residents to introduce the programs.
  • Provides ongoing communication with residents and, as necessary, family members.
  • Assists in leadership of wellness program.
  • Organizes and supervises volunteer staff.
  • Addresses resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
  • Maintains a database and prepares reports on resident assessments, participation and satisfaction.
  • Interacts with residents, guests and staff in at atmosphere of hospitality.
  • Protects the privacy of the resident when communicating oral and written information.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Require one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prefer one or more years experience working with adults with IDD
  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree and training in Special Education, Activity Therapy, Recreation Therapy, or Music Therapy.
  • Must at all times meet background checks as well as employability conditions of the Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR) and Nurse Aid Registry (NAR), as maintained by Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities (TDADS).

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk a 20 acre campus, the employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl when participating in recreation activities.
